I will be listing colors and their genetic letter(s) soon. I hope this helps people understand what the color genetics means on most of my horses. Not all my horses have them yet but I'm slowly working on it.
There are two alleles per color.
Base colors:
E - Black
e - Red (aka chestnut)
Extensions
A - Agouti (aka bay/brown) (there's some times smaller letters on the right side of A but I don't understand them well.
D - Dun
W(#) - White spotting aka Dominant white. There's so far 30+ known.
Sb1 - Sabino 1
T - Tobiano
LWO - Lethal White syndrome, Frame Overo
SW1 - Splash white 1 (or just Splash)
SW2 - Splash White 2
SW3 - Splash White 3
SW4 - Splash White 4
Rn - Roan, true dark headed roan
G - Gray
Lp - Leopard Complex.
PATN1 - makes leopard when in conjunction with Lp complex
non dun 1 and 2 to display dun like features and I'll have to go into them in more detail as I learn more about them.
nd1 - Non Dun 1
nd2 - Non Dun 2
Dilutes
Cr - Cream
Z - Silver
CH - Champagne
prl - Pearl
Mu - Mushroom
